Rothenberg Weighs in On Boucher Bill
by Melinda Gipson on Thursday, May 6, 2010![]() In its first public statement about proposed privacy legislation, IAB's President and CEO Randall Rothenberg told memebers Thursday "our intention is to communicate clearly from the outset that legislation should not be overly prescriptive, but rather allow industry the flexibility to innovate and discover new and more effective ways of meeting consumers’ privacy expectations." (A longer legal analysis is linked from the statement.) But he also gave a useful overview of IAB's efforts to help the industry raise the bar on consumer privacy by self regulation at the April 28 Audience Targeting Summit in Las Vegas hosted by AudienceScience. It's today's featured video in the upper right corner of the DAILY. For a more detailed description of the rules by which the IAB would like to see everyone operate, check out the IAB's "Data Usage and Control Primer." | |
