Fanta, Colbert Nation Take Top Honors at MOBI Awards

Whether you wanted to be the next Fantana, a mobilized member of the Colbert Nation, or just another savvy "Urban Daddy," you were amply equipped by this year's MOBI Awards winners. The Coca-Cola Company's Fanta campaign, where Millennial Media served up a sweepstakes for one lucky winner to become "The Fourth Fantana," delivered 15 times more video views than any other national, interactive video campaign.

But it was the creativity of today's mobile media that blew judges away in this inaugural MOBI awards show; they used words like, "addicting," "engrossing" and "a smash-hit for the brand" to describe why Millennial's Fanta campaign walked away with Best of Show honors.

Comedy Central took away the top Mobile mobile website award for Colbert Nation in a hotly contested category with the help of agency Transpera. The site includes a full library of video clips, along with the ability to search for specific videos, and share videos from the show to other mobiles with “Send-to-friend.”  The site also links to a “Moment of Truth," upcoming guests, ticket info, and the opportunity to chat with other fans about the show. The integration of video and mobile-to-mobile sharing that comes baked into Colbert's truthiness-to-go delivers the kind of multimedia, interactive experience Web users know and love. "Colbert Nation delivers for its fans," judges said.

Zippo's iPhone App, that just depicted the lighter itself, energized an older brand and introduced it powerfully to a new generation of soon-to-be brand loyalists. The Urban Daddy App was "almost scary" in it's clever anticipation of the kinds of social situations that could lead to the entertainment selections sponsored by Lexus, judges said. The ability to capture the target audience's psychographic "voice" and wit, combined with the complete, contextual integration of Lexus in the application, popped this "dark horse" candidate to the top of the heap for "Best Mobile Apps."

Technology was a winner too, this year; Azuki Systems took the coveted top innovation award for its technology powering high-quality video, rich community features and compelling consumer content experiences across a wide array of wireless platforms. But Clickatell also wowed the judges with its innovative adaptation of its SMS gateway to allow members of the "Third World" to participate live in a Town Hall extention of President Barack Obama's speech to Muslim and African nations during his trips to Cairo and Ghana.

Looking for the nearest ATM, ordering a Pizza, finding the right color match for your apartment walls or the right university, or getting your first taste of democracy or fame? Mobile media can take you there. Here's the full list on DM2PRO.com.

Porcia March: I really enjoy the refreshment of a soft drink like FANTA AND IT MAKES MY DAY. KEEP THE GOOD WORK GOING. PLEASE DONT CHANGE THE INGREDIENTS OR REDUCE ANY OF IT CAUSE IT WILL TAKE AWAY THE ORIGINAL TASTE OF FANTA. I NEVER EXPERIENCED A DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN MAKE THE LOGO - A DRINK WITH NO DIFFERENCE IN TASTE.
